The LTO has announced its policy on e-bikes and is now impounding unregistered Light Electric Vehicles or LEVs. According to the agency, the local sales of such vehicles are increasing with attractive lower prices.
The LTO announced that owners of LEVs can register their e-bikes at the following LTO branches:
Moreover, in accordance to Administrative Order AO-2006-01, here are the steps to register, as announced by the LTO.
After completing the requirements, owners must proceed to the transaction counters and submit all the required documents to the Evaluator for evaluation and computation of fees.
For the last step, owners must undergo actual inspection of motor vehicles with duly accomplished MVIR. The form can be downloaded from the LTO website, and accomplished prior the visit to the LTO.
LEVs such as e-bikes are said to lessen the use of gasoline as these vehicles use batteries to operate, which is likewise a big help for the environment. With these released policies by the LTO, the agency says that it is to ensure that the drivers are registered as well as the vehicles.
