I wish I had gone to Tech
I’m a rising sophomore who turned Georgia Tech down for an out-of-state school (I’m from Georgia) and I really regret it now. To be honest, I was a little intimidated by how hard I heard the academics at Tech are…. only to find out it probably just as hard if not harder at my current school…. I just didn’t hear about them as much since I’m not from that state. I love my school and all, but now I’m just realizing it would have been so much more practical for me to have chosen Tech. (p.s. sorry I’ve been so ambiguous by not saying which school I go to since I respect it too much to speak against its name. but its a state school and higher ranked than georgia tech)

<br>Moral of the story/ message for in-staters who are just now applying to college: choose Georgia Tech. It is an amazing school… and with the HOPE, you just can’t turn it down like I did! Now that I’m at school in a different state, I know people from that state who all know of Georgia Tech and how great of a school it is… people even tell me I was dumb for turning down free tuition at such a prestigious school! It’s different hearing it from the other side when you’re not completely surrounded by people of your high school going to UGA/Tech

From the other side…I go to Georgia Tech but I’m out of state. Where I’m from, Tech is definitely considered prestigious. I was the first person from my high school ever to go and people were really impressed. But I’ve noticed that perception of the school is completely different for people from georgia. Like you said, tons of people from the same high school end up at Tech so it loses its allure for in-staters. Just wanted to say…when making a decision, look at it with unbiased eyes. being out of state, i definitely see the difference. i’m glad i go to tech though. the degree will be worth the difficulty.

I’m an in-stater, but have noticed the trend of very high credentials from those who are out-of-state compared to in-state. Those kids tend to be a lot better qualified than in-state kids are.
