Posted by anonymous 02/17/2010 06:30 PM sure. come up with something better next time….This is legitimately a possibility that they have been talking about. I know it’s difficult to get reliable info from CollegeACB, but this is could be the case next year. Just talk to someone high up in SG or close to the administration. I don’t think any Greeks want this to be the case, so we need to make sure we don’t fuck anything up for the rest of the year.reply 30 votes report

The longer you wait to rush, usually the better decision you will make on where to pledge. I understand the rush process is never perfect, but it seems like fall of your sophomore year would be the ideal time, so you’ve had an entire year to decide.reply 40 votes report

pledging is fine when you’re taking freshman year BS classes… sophomore year is a lot harder. ALSO an extra semester of geeddom would suckreply 50 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/17/2010 08:23 PM spoken like a true geed. fuck no. pledging is…”pledging is fine when you’re taking freshman year BS class”
Just because you took BS classes when you were a freshman doesn’t necessarily mean everyone else does.

Are you taking Finance, Quant, Accounting, Intermediate Econ, and other upper level classes across various departments this year as a freshman?
NO. Because you can’t.

Posted by anonymous 02/17/2010 11:51 PMthe time that rush starts blows the way it is now, so why the fuck are they making it even worse? we need to wait until second semester to pledge while most other schools pledge freshman by the second fucking week. this way you don’t needlessly worry over which fraternity will give you a bid and won’t be fucking stressed if you don’t get your first choice. this may not matter to someone who is “socially perfect”, but for the other 95% of wake, it really does. reply 140 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/18/2010 12:38 AM the time that rush starts blows the way it is now, so w…yea, whoever is involved in these discussions, I hope they do read this site because when it comes to issues such as these, our opinions are extremely important. Saving rush for Sophomore year is an inappropriate decision purely due to the fact that I am trying to get my life sorted out in regards to my major and the increasingly difficult classes I am taking. Anyone who is taking higher level courses in their major or even introductory courses at Calloway know how much time these classes take out of their life. I don’t need to be stressed by fraternity involvement and class. By sophomore year, greek involvement should be a source of relief; where people struggling with their upper-level course load can escape and even get help from their fraternity brothers or sorority sisters. Above all, Wake Forest is appealing because it is extremely prestigious and maintains a decent greek system that would be much better if it weren’t for the over-scrutiny from the administration (Pledge night does not count, the school has had a strong record of hating Greeks…Ex. taking down the fraternity crests from the dorms because it placed too much emphasis on a frat culture). If it is pushed back to sophomore year, it is going to kill greek life on campus and, therefore, keep potential applicants who love to party and be smart from applying. I am not aware of schools pushing rush to sophomore year and I really hope this isn’t a case of Wake Forest trying to promote themselves in the collegiate world by being “Progressive”. Fuck that, we learned from our mistakes, which our nothing compared to other schools. A student died at MIT during orientation a few years ago as a result of alcohol poisoning but MIT didn’t push the beginning of the school year back to December. In Conclusion: Wake Forest do not fuck with the greek system more than you already have.reply 150 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/18/2010 12:57 AM yea, whoever is involved in these discussions, I hope t…While I agree that it Rush should not be pushed back any farther, it is dumb to think that the Administration “should” read this gossip rag of a website. If you really want your opinion heard — email students in contact with the Board and higher level administration… AKA Meghan Haenn and Jermyn Davis. That is a much more mature avenue to express your concerns than here. Plus, if they look at this website, you are giving them even more reasons to hate on Greek life because this website does not paint Greek life in the most appealing picture..reply 160 votes report

If they are reading this web site then they can bring up some of these ideas in the IFC meetings, etc. Of course, formal address is always a good thing, sorry…fuck. I was just giving my opinion on this site cuz I felt like it and said, Oh it would be nice if a fraternity member on the IFC board read this and decided to talk about students thinking it is a bad idea at his meeting. Doesn’t even have to say its from CollegeACB, just talking with fellow students.reply 190 votes report
