Posted by anonymous 09/28/2009 04:27 PMCost are a bit subjective, but when my parents added up everything greek related at the end of my second year we had spent over 6 grand. The dues are one part and than the hidden cost of party dresses, costumes, big sis expenses, birthday presents for sisters date nights- the list really gets long. Thank goodness my parents pay for it or I wouldn’t have been able to do it. I’m not including the cost for living in this is just dues and fun. reply 20 votes vote downreport
Posted by anonymous 09/28/2009 10:14 PM Cost are a bit subjective, but when my parents added up…That is way too high. I paid about 2200.00 per year for my expenses. But I didn’t buy new dresses for each event I would share with my sisters and switch. The going out part is expensive because you get invited to so many birtjday party get togethers and that does add upreply 30 votes vote downreport

Not including your entertainment expenses and clothing to wear for all the events. Can’t do that and justify taking on more student loans. Could be 15,000 by the end of my four years and I want to go to law school so couldn’t do it. :(reply 40 votes vote downreport
Posted by anonymous 09/30/2009 02:49 PM That Op is correct I got a bid for a top house over 3,0…but if you live in the house you save money.. living in is like more than 3000 cheaper than living in the dorm and that includes your food and sorority dues.. if you live in for more than a yr you could end up saving. plus if you are actually concerned about money you can get a scholarship from your sorority which if you are willing to put in the work you can almost always get. really you could end up saving a lot of money by joining a sorority. its only costly for your freshman yr when you are living in the dorms and paying dues. reply 50 votes vote downreport
Posted by anonymous 09/30/2009 09:26 PM but if you live in the house you save money.. living in…yeah i went through rush and i know the speech every house gave about being less expensive than the dorms but looking around, living in an apartment is around the same price with my own living space and kitchen that health code guidelines actually let me use and i can have food whenever i want, considering many houses’ “meals” are based on cereal for breakfast and no meals over the weekends. i mean, on paper it’s true, dorms are more expensive than living in the house, but do you really want to be chastised at age 21 for eating in your living room or hace and make my oving people over past a certain hour? please, i left home to find independence and my own identity. paying to limiting what i can and can’t do at my own house and to have label you have to prove yourself to be the opposite of? no thanks.reply 60 votes vote downreport
Posted by anonymous 10/01/2009 12:03 AM yeah i went through rush and i know the speech every ho…Exactly, with the extreme cost of joining, the fact that this school is located in an amazing city you don’t have to join to have friends and a crazy busy social life. I have friends that joined last year that depledged and are havng the time of their life. spending money that would have gone to dues on weekend fun trips and cute clothes. plus all the meetings and commitments really take a hunk of your time. living in the house with a house mom. are you kidding? ready to make my own rules. I rushed but didn’t join, it was fun but it seems the girls that actually joined were the less outgoing girls needing the security of a “system”reply
