why all the hate against jews?Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 04:20 AM | Last Reply 02/08/2010 06:48 PMi’ve noticed a consistency on this website, other than the whole sorority/frat rankings…why is there so much hate against the jewish frats and sororities? didn’t we move beyond anti-semitism decades ago? it’s so frustrating for me to see the clear ignorance that is still present at iu, a school that prides itself on its diversity and acceptance.
i am not jewish, but i can personally say that as a person coming from a predominantly jewish neighborhood, many of them are educated, cultured, respectful, and tolerant (unlike many of the people that are constantly posting on this website). other than the fact that they worship a different god, there is nothing that differentiates jews from people who are christian or catholic.
not only is it wrong to judge people based off the color of their skin, it is also equally wrong to make derogatory statements about others because they are of a different religion…there is no need to bash on them because they are just as part of the greek community as anyone who is not jewish. they are philanthropic, involved, and like to have fun just like everyone else.
i hope one day people will come to a realization that ignorance of this level will do nothing to make our society progress, especially our greek community, or iu as a whole.0 votes reportreplyAd0 votes Sponsored Advertisement

Posted by anonymous girl 02/04/2010 12:43 PMWhat. We don’t believe in a different god. Christianity is basically an extended version of Judaism, same God and everything, only you guys also believe in Jesus.
Anyway, although it sucks and is unfair that people are anti-semitic and racist, you must have been living in a bubble if you thought people weren’t prejudiced any more. This is nothing new, and a lot of kids from Indiana who haven’t met Jews before are wary of all the Jews here and the Jewish houses. Anti-semitism and racism is just a lot more obvious on anonymous board where you don’t get in trouble for saying things like that.reply 70 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 01:23 PMcome on! people aren’t ALL racicst or anti-semetic. You all just create such a great stereotype that we can all spot you on kirkwood, the bus stop at smallwood, or starbucks talking about the latest american apparel outfit or how much our new jeans cost. Sorry you all dress the same in uggs, shades and some valuer juicy pants. If you werent all exactly the same maybe you would get a break but its not about religion and it never has been. we could give a rats ass in what you believe in, its how you carry yourself and thats JEWISH reply 80 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 02:14 PMi went to a VERY unqualified high school that was predominantly black (insert your racist jokes HERE) and i had never even seen a jewish person in real life until i got to IU i mean i read up on different religions and all so i KNEW what judaism was but the only jew ui knew of was sammy davis, jr….and he was black lol but i don’t see what the jewish stereotype is all about i mean they look, talk, act and sometimes dress like all of us so why all the hoopla?reply 90 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 04:17 PMOK. I was raised “Jewish” but I have since denounced the religion. I simply don’t buy it. I do however still embrace the culture and traditions my family have established that you can label “Jewish”. The fact of the matter is this. There are many of us Jews who are very down to earth and just like any other person you would find on the street. There are also a handful of us that call attention to ourselves (i.e. dress similar, have prissy attitudes, a sense of entitlement). It is easy to call out those people because they are flat out obnoxious. But can’t the same be said for any other group of people? In any group there are down to earth people “normal” people and there are people who act extreme and can give their group a bad name. We are all in a town that is traditionally Christian and it isn’t unbelievable that us Jews get a lot of flack because we come in here being all arrogant and shit acting like we own the place.
The morale of the story: You can wear your ugg boots, spandex, american apparel hoodies, fake gold jumbo watches, scarves that don’t keep you warm and aviator shades but don’t be a douchebag about it. If you call attention to yourself and your huge ego don’t be shocked when you get called out on it. It’s also a lot easier to make a generalization for the sake of calling someone out.
Love getting this shit out on the table. Good discussion.reply 100 votes report

Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 04:54 PM this is not the point, its when people on this site goe…my point exactly…i know a lot of chill, funny guys in that house and just because theyre jewish, doesnt make their frat “not real”…reply 120 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 04:58 PM my point exactly…i know a lot of chill, funny guys in…some of my great friends are jews. i have no disrespect. im a Christian and don’t know much about Judaism, and certainly don’t choose religion as a way of discriminating..so i dont agree that everyone hates on jews..reply 130 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 05:00 PM some of my great friends are jews. i have no disrespect…once again, this post isn’t about Judaism-it’s about the Jew clones that parade around campus thinking their shit don’t stink.

Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 05:06 PMyeah, true…most jews are wealthier and better off than others…many of them parading around in their american apparel hoodies, ray bans, leggings, uggs, north faces, etc thinking that they are better than others for being able to afford these things…and yes, this can get old sometimes when they seem to be constantly replicating each others style
but the same thing can be said for the other end of the spectrum too…most kids from indy and the surrounding areas plaster themselves in hollister ae aeropostale and a&f; logos, thinking theyre hot shit for doing so…and yet they judge jews for being “clones”reply 160 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 05:12 PMthank you. I am jewish and this shit really bothers me.. I am NOT a clone and I don’t even own a pair of juicy pants. Stop generalizing people. It has nothing to do with being jewish its just where people are from…like i am from cali, most jews here are from ny, nj, or chicago and that is why they are how they are not anything to do with religion. reply 170 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 05:13 PMthere are jews in other houses that people don’t talk shit about and other religions in the jewish houses that people assume are so stop generalizing.reply 180 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 05:25 PMIt’s easy to discriminate and get a rise out of people for your entertainment when you’re hiding behind a computer screen. I’m a Jew and I’m sick of all the bullshit posted about us on here but I’m just saying that’s these ignorant fucks rationale. It’s a damn shame. They’re just children.reply 190 votes report
Posted by anonymous 02/04/2010 06:08 PM this is not the point, its when people on this site goe…It means people are so fucking tired of you blabbing about your religion. Who gives a shit you are jewish. It’s always the jews who have to mention they are jewish. That’s why you get called out for being jerks. You are not the chosen people as much as you wish you were. I lived around them and got tired of them always going on about jewish this and jewish that. It’s disgusting and obnoxious. Oh yea, some of the loudest people around are jews. People just don’t respect you. If you are polite and not always trying to attract attention to yourself, people wouldn’t say a thing.reply
